Lakewood's Heritage Center looks at 100 years of entertaining. Cocktails and Casseroles: Entertaining in the 20th Century Feb 17 - Sept 8

Beginning February 17, Lakewood's Heritage Center looks at 100 years of entertaining and our need to be social. This interactive exhibit of 20th century parties runs through September 8 at the Radius Gallery in Lakewood's Heritage Center, 801 S. Yarrow St..

Whatever the decade in the 20th century, there was a party for it! Enjoy a 1920s tea party with two ladies while the younger generation is embracing jazz and flapper culture. Step back in time when women wore heels and aprons in the kitchen during the 1950s. View a 1970s Welcome Home party for those returning from Vietnam and teenage girls partying in the 1980s to Duran Duran, wearing side ponytails and neon leggings. Observe dad sitting on the couch watching the Super Bowl in the 1990s “man cave.”

Celebrate the opening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 17 and applaud a 100 years of entertaining by wearing your favorite decade’s clothing and rock out to some of the best tunes of the time. A Paddio Daddio party will be in June, and the exhibit will close with a Mocktail Prohibition Party in September.

“It is a party that no one would want to miss. It’s a trip down memory lane that will highlight some of the best entertaining in the 20th century,” said Jamie Wilms, museum curator.
