Before performing with Cuba's famous Tropicana nightclub, Evaristo was part of the third generation of the Cuban Trova movement, singing and playing his guitar in small intimate venues around Havana. With his new project, Evaristo returns to his roots, when he and other musicians would gather for concerts and improvised performances, and dazzle audiences with their delicious melodies and sophisticated harmonies.

In a review of Evaristo's CD release in the Cuban newspaper Juventud Rebelde, Joaquin Borges-Triana wrote:

"I'll never forget the good old days I spent in Havana’s ‘Casa del Joven Creador’ (the House of the Young Creator), in the Avenida del Puerto. It was the preferred venue for many of my generation, at a beautiful stage of our lives... One of the artists from those times, who, with his guitar and voice, helped us... to feel that there was much more to life than mere existence, was Evaristo Machado, frequently playing [his] melodies on the patio of that big old house at the corner of San Pedro and Sol."
