The 16th Annual Essence Music Festival, celebrating African-American music and culture, returns to New Orleans in 2009. Known as "The Party With A Purpose", the Essence Music Festival has been voted as the largest African-American Family Festival & Empowerment conference and concert in the world.
Always held over the Fourth of July weekend, at the Louisiana Superdome, the festival attracts nearly 200,000 of the best-dressed, fun-loving, talented, and committed people in the nation. You will hear the largest gathering of African-American musical talent in the U.S., as well as listen to some of the top-notch speakers in empowerment seminars.
Whether you like Soul, R&B, Hip Hop, or anything in between, you can find it here at the 16th Annual Essence Music Festival - and CDTE is taking you there - yet again!

Me and my friend Shayla are going for the 1st time. We are so excited and can't wait to get there. Should we attend the festival all three days or just hang out and party?

This will be my 2nd year going..I fell in love with it and the city last year..I got to meet so many different people from all around the United States. I am definitely looking foward to it this year.I CAN'T WAIT!!!

OMG I am beyonce’s #1 fan and I just bought the essence music festival cd/dvd (15th anniversary) from walmart and it was HOT!!! She sounds so good live and she is the best dancer out there forreal!!!
If you haven’t seen the DVD or listened to the CD from last year and you are a HUGE fan of Beyonce’s then go out and get the 2009 essence cd/dvd because she is OUT OF THIS WORLD and OFF THE CHAIN!!!! ☺
Now I HAVE to go see her in concert!!!!

I am from New Orleans, but I moved away five years ago. I went to every EMF when I lived there and I return EVERY year. I can't wait to go "home" this weekend!
