Espn Zone Hosts Second Annual Sports Spelling Bee Competition May 28, 2009

Timed with the 82nd Annual Scripps National Spelling Bee, ESPN Zone will pay tribute to Anaheim’s sports fans with spelling prowess as it hosts its second annual Sports Spelling Bee competition at its Downtown Disney District location.
Up to 50 competitors will go head-to-head to spell the last names of local and national sports figures from various eras. The 2009 “Sports Spelling Bee” champ will walk away with a prize package worth more than $750 including a VIP party at ESPN Zone, four tickets to a regular season Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim game, an ESPN Sports Almanac and the coveted “Sports Spelling Bee” trophy. Second and third place finishers will receive consolation sports-themed prizes.

Those interested in competing in ESPN Zone’s Sports Spelling Bee competition can email [email protected] and include their name, address, phone number, birth year and the ESPN Zone location at which they’d like to participate. Participants may also register in-person by visiting the retail store at their local ESPN Zone location. Walk-up participants may be accepted on event day, if space is available. All spellers must be 18 or older to participate.

Sports Spelling Bee is FREE and open to the public.
