Bassist, vocalist, and composer Esperanza Spalding stands at the beginning of a brilliant career: the 23-year-old prodigy-turned-pro from Portland is about to release her debut album, Esperanza. A Berklee College grad and instructor (appointed at the age of 20), Spalding has already worked with such notables as Michel Camilo, Dave Samuels, Stanley Clarke, Pat Metheny, Patti Austin, Donald Harrison, and Joe Lovano. Her new CD, her new band, and her shows at Yoshi’s will serve as an introduction to the exciting, wide-ranging musical talents of Esperanza Spalding.
