Janice Garrett and Charles Moulton's large-scale movement spectacle "The Illustrated Book of Invisible Stories" returns to Yerba Buena Center Forum for six performances January 14-17, following its successful sold out premiere run last April. "The Illustrated Book of Invisible Stories" features a cast of 6 solo dancers, a movement choir of 18, 8 musicians and singer/songwriter Odessa Chen. Together they realize Garrett and Moulton's vision of a taught, visceral work that floods the stage with movement, sound and dramatic action in a dynamic exploration of individual and collective transformation. www.janicegarrettanddancers.org

Excerpts from the work, which choreographer and ODC/Dance Artistic Director Brenda Way called "A gorgeous evening full of imagery, emotion, humor and humanity," may be seen at:

"The Illustrated Book of Invisible Stories" juxtaposes soloists against group, creating transformative dramatic friction of conflict and resolution, tension and release in a non-narrative exploration that is visually and emotionally stunning. American Conservatory Theater Artistic Director Carey Perloff said, "It was one of my favorite performances of last season, filled with wit and immense theatricality, a rich combination of haunting solos and brilliant choral moments that look like what Brecht and Sophocles must have had in mind. This is a beautiful piece, worth seeing twice."

"The Illustrated Book of Invisible Stories" is performed to an audience that surrounds the stage on three sides affording unusual intimacy, depth and a feeling of inevitable connection with the artists. Envisioned as a three-dimensional, "holographic" book, the stage space comes alive in a progression of dramatic episodes that arise and dissolve-each illuminating and investigating awkward, delicate and bittersweet aspects of the human experience.
