eMotion Pictures: An Exhibition of Orthopaedics in Art is sponsored and organized by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). This juried exhibit showcases features works of art by artists from nine countries and 33 states, including 10 artists from San Francisco and the Bay Area.

Over 1200 entries were submitted and 200 works of art from 152 artists were selected. Rene de Guzman, Sr. Curator of the Oakland Museum, John Killacky of the San Francisco Foundation and Pratchenko, professor of art at the San Francisco State University were on the team of judges that chose the works of art.

The exhibit celebrates both the transformational power of art as well as modern medicine's success in addressing a wide range of orthopaedic conditions. For the first time, both patients and doctors have translated their feelings about illness and healing into powerful works in a wide-variety of mediums including watercolor, acrylic painting, copper etching, pencil drawing, quilting, photography and sculpture.
