Brooklyn Conservatory presents Emilio Solla and his New York Tango project as part of the dynamic, world music series MusicNOW! Featuring noted musicians Chris Cheek, saxophone, Victor Prieto, accordion, Jorge Roeder, double bass and Richie Barshay, drums.

The evening’s performance will focus on BCM faculty member, exceptional pianist Emilio Solla and his unparalleled hybrid of tango, jazz and Argentian music. Solla, who has earned the incredible accolade “one of most creative musicians of the post-Piazzolla generation…” - CultureMob, will present his characteristic warm, mischievous musical vibe combined with his rare and unquestionable talent. For this concert, the group will be presenting music from their new album, Bien Sur!

The unique and exciting nature of Solla’s sound was captured in a live concert review recently published in All About Jazz: “I doubt I was alone in fearing something had gone terribly wrong. Instead, to the relief of us all, it soon became apparent that surprise is one of the more striking elements that Solla employs in his compositions.” The review went on to state: “it was Solla himself who stole the show. His striking presence—playful yet clearly serious about his game—invoked a couple of noteworthy apparitions at Smalls that night.”

This opening concert of BCM’s most diverse series, MusicNOW! is a chance to see musical masters at work in an intimate setting at affordable prices. To check out what else is on offer this season, please head to our online calendar at http://www.bqcm.org/concerts.htm .
