Elliott Brood play dark, gritty folk and howling bluegrass music built around whiskey-drenched vocals and lyrics evoking images of love, loss and murder. In their soul-thumping songs, banjo keeps time to a strange and chunky angular stomp, with Kentucky-hardcore acoustic guitar and somber, achingly confessional vocal harmonies.

Since forming in the spring of 2002, Elliott BROOD have sparked a devout following across Canada and in a number of fanatic pockets around the world. Their cherished first release on weewerk -- the six-song EP 'Tin Type' which is housed in a beautifully hand-made miniature album - was discovered with four-star excitement by critics and fans and has now reached the 'indie gold' sales mark in Canada. Songwriters Sasso and Laforet explore the territory of collective myth; Ambassador is rife with elegies to historical and legendary figures: the ode to 'Jackson,' the heavy 'Wolfgang' and 'Second Son,' the sad 'My Friend.' Even contemporary references such as the one found in the alt-country number 'The Bridge' - an allusion to the structure in Windsor, Ontario, that gives the album its title - all share the same sense of timelessness.

Recently labelled 'Canada's Breakout Band of 2006', Elliott Brood are just back from their second western tour since unleashing Ambassador and will embark on their third European tour this spring in support of its international debut. Since their rise to #1 on CBC's National Playlist with their cult hit, 'The Bridge', Elliott Brood have popped up on all kinds of Best of Lists, including on the iTunes Staff Picks of 2005. Recently nominated for a Juno and the recipients of this year's CBC 'Galaxy Rising Star' award, Elliott Brood are now whipping American media members into a frenzy. The press celebrated this Valentine's Day with the release of 'Ambassador', calling the album 'inventive' and 'intriguing' and one of the most interesting new bands to hit the US this year. The band heads to the states, on tour with Great Lake Swimmers Mendoza Line on their way to SXSW, where Elliott Brood have been invited to play the coveted VICE party during their stay in Austin.
