Elizabeth Turk - "Traces" September 6, 2008

Elizabeth Turk’s sculptures and drawings, at Bandini Art from September 6, conjure a sensual lost world where water–splashed remnants are preserved in marble, frozen in time. Sinuous vines weave through semi-translucent vellum. A bird’s rich plumage provides a flash of color.

Turk, whose works feature in the collections of the Corcoran Gallery of Art and the National Museum for Women in the Arts in Washington, and the Mint Museum in North Carolina, is renowned for the intricate, reflective beauty of her sculpture and her technical mastery of the almost forgotten art of stone carving
