Pianist and composer Elio Villafranca was born in Cuba where he was classically trained in percussion and composition. He has been involved in the east coast Jazz and Latin Jazz scenes, integrating elements of traditional jazz and Afro Cuban genres to create brazen innovations with a distinctly percussive feel.
