Boosler was the first female to get her own comedy special on cable when Showtime aired 'Party of One.' Following rave reviews, Showtime gave her a deal for three more specials. She is often credited as opening new doors for women in comedy. Other cable specials include: 'Broadway Baby,' 'Top Tomata,' 'Live Nude Girls,' 'Elayne Boosler's Midnight Hour,' 'Comedy From Here,' and 'The Call.' Boosler also appeared on the television hit 'Night Court.'
