DC based El Teatro de Danza Contemporanea de El Salvador (TDC) was the first professional dance company established in El Salvador to perform a diverse repertoire of classical, contemporary and indigenous works. Founded in 1994 by Directors Miya Hisaka Silva and Francisco Castillo, this “physically sumptuous” (New York Times) company originally united artistic leaders that held a common vision for dance as well as the restoration of their country after a 12 year civil war. TDC's powerful, passionate and elegant repertory reflects a distinctive Central American aesthetic with an expressive and exuberant style. "Infused by the passion of living, the Company gives soulful meaning to the term expression dance” (The Washington Post).
