El Salto (“The Leap”) is a unique forum for contemporary music, presented in a context of humanist inquiry. Alongside live performances of new classical music, El Salto features short readings from literature, journalism, and philosophy, a short talk, and a new, easy (and optional) kind of community singing. This evening’s event will be around the theme, “Longing.” First presented by composer Robinson McClellan at Yale's Institute of Sacred Music in 2005, this unique project, curated by McClellan and conductor/therapist Erin Jeanette, makes its New York City debut at the New York Society for Ethical Culture.
