Live music w/ Judea Eden & the Bittersweet Trio, Sang Matiz, and Axton Kincaid

“Judea Sings the Blues”
Judea Eden, a long time fan of old style jazz and blues singers, has decided to team up with her band Bittersweet Trio to bring you a dynamic set of jazz and blues standards sure to bring back a feeling of style and class. Songs originally recorded by singers like Etta James, Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday, among others, will be performed and given their proper due respect with a new Judea twist. Come hear Judea like you’ve never heard her before! Backing her on keys will be the sparkling Amy Meyers and the illustrious Jeni Day on electric guitar. For more info about Bittersweet Trio and their “usual” sound, visit their website at: http://www.myspace.com/bittersweettrio

"Sang Matiz" is the combination of two words: Sang which means blood in French and Matiz which means "Harmonious mixture" in Spanish. This mixture also comes from all the diverse musical experiences we all have gathered through our lives. Many South American, Caribbean and European rhythms have been fused with flamenco, reggae and jazz to bring you this new sound that is making people dance all over the Bay Area. We enjoy making people enjoy themselves and dance to our music, to bring different bloodlines together and forget about the little things that separates us. We are different but we are also the same. Peace and Love for all. VIVA LA MUSICA!!!!_

Axton Kincaid
“Recalling moments of Freakwater and The Be Good Tanyas and armed with dazzling three-layer harmonies…an obvious love for classic twang while bringing a little contemporary attitude along the way.”--San Francisco Bay Guardian

Founded in 1979, CUAV, Community United Against Violence, is the nation’s first LGBTQQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) anti-violence organization. Our mission is to prevent and respond to violence against and within our diverse LGBTQQ communities. We accomplish this through peer-based counseling, direct assistance, education and outreach, grassroots organizing, and policy advocacy. As part of the broader LGBTQQ social justice movement, CUAV works to build our communities' capacity to respond to, heal from, and prevent all forms of violence. We work with a range of community partner organizations and service providers to realize this vision. Website link: http://www.cuav.org
