EL OTRO by Octavio Solis at Thick House August 21, 2009

Thick Description, Potrero Hill’s professional theater, announces the revival of our 1998 hit, EL OTRO, written by nationally acclaimed playwright Octavio Solis for the company.

Crackling with passion, pop culture, and Solis’ signature poetic theatrical language, EL OTRO, follows a Mexican-American teenager, her father, and her stepfather journey across the Rio Grande into Mexico, where they find the darkest secrets of their souls and the fatal intertwining of their histories. This production is the final revival marking our 20th anniversary, and the last Thick Description show before a producing hiatus.

EL OTRO runs August 21 through September 13, at the Thick House, 1695 18th Street on Potrero Hill in San Francisco. Opening Night is Sunday, August 23. Preview performances (at which audience members are paid $1.00 to attend) are Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22.
