Designing the User Experience Function
Organizing for Innovation by Intuit

While design may be "hot" today, what can we do as a profession to ensure our long-term relevance? One of the most important decisions we make as designers is how we organize to do our work and how we define our relationships with others in the creative process. Designs reflect the organizations that create them. Unlike those working in "art" or "pure research", when working within a product development organization, the user experience designer must consider various divergent factors and try to solve for them in an optimal fashion. The same holds true when defining the appropriate organizational model and processes for a multidisciplinary user experience team.

How can we position ourselves as innovation leaders within corporate America? As any experienced designer knows, before attempting to solve a problem, it is important to examine your underlying assumptions. How do we define our roles? What does it mean to design an experience? How can we been seen as strategic partners rather than a service function simply executing the vision of others? I'll examine how our work and the relationships we define between ourselves and others may impact our future as a profession and suggest how we can take that future into our own hands.

Seeking to improve the design IQ of your organization? Are you working feverishly to evolve your design faster than your competitors can? If you are involved or interested in the process of designing new products or services, whatever your role, and want to help your team become more creative and innovative this talk is for you.

You will benefit from this event as UI Designers, Web designers, Project Managers, design strategists.
