The amazing East Village Opera Company (EVOC), veterans of the Canadian Consulate General's "Canada Day" tradition in Central Park, as well as its Upper North Side Canadian Music Series at Joe's Pub, return to the Tri-State area for two free concerts this summer, after months of touring the world. The band has also been busy arranging and recording its second album, which will soon be released on Decca Records. If you haven't seen and heard EVOC, you're in for a treat. The band plays stylistic games with classic operatic arias, setting them in prog-rock, hard rock, pop, soul, world, and jazz settings, while maintaining the full emotional range of the source music. Featuring two Ottawa natives, Music Director Peter Kiesewalter and lead singer Tyley Ross, EVOC makes for an unforgettable evening of music. Connecticut music fans can enjoy the band on June 21st in the beautiful outdoor setting of New Haven Green, while New Yorkers will have to wait for July to see the band christen former Joe's Pub impresario Bill Bragin's first season at the helm of Lincoln Center's Public Programming team.
