Join us the first Saturday of each month for live Cajun Zydeco bands and couple dancing in a gorgeous ballroom at the Lake Merritt Dance Center in Oakland. Free dance classes before each event.

Zydeco and Cajun dance is a rhythmic movement that is very animated, and includes dynamic sweeping waltzes, a Cajun-styled variation of the two-step, and even some line dances.

The original Acadians settled in Louisiana in the late 18th Century arriving there from Acadia (now Nova Scotia). Through the years the name Acadians has gradually became simply Cajuns.

Come to a dance lesson, try it out, and enjoy! Special pricing for students and first-time dancers.
