Marine Science Institute Hosts "Earth Day on the Bay" April 21, 2007.

Redwood City, California - Marine Science Institute has planned a great day honoring Planet Earth on Saturday, April 21, 2007 from 8 am - 4 pm. The Marine Science Institute throws open our doors to the public only once a year, so we have packed in a terrific variety of watery ways to have fun and learn about our treasured San Francisco Bay. If you like music, mud and sea creatures, you are bound to have a great time!

The event will offer a variety of activities and programs: admission is a suggested donation of $5.
-Live music with the Banana Slug String Band and The Sippy Cups
-5 two-hour trips aboard the MSI ship called the Robert G. Brownlee. ($10/person, must be 4+yrs old).
-Programs with tidepool animals, sharks, fish, plankton and of course mud!
-Fish and shark feeding at the MSI aquariums
-Face painting, Ocean arts and crafts, and more.

The Banana Slug String Band is a group of lovable musicians and educators from the coastal redwoods of Northern California. With vocals, guitars, mandolin, bass, harmonica, banjo and percussion, Slug songs range from rockin' boogies to sensitive ballads; folk songs to reggae and rap. Their music ripples and resounds its way across the planet, speaking to science, conservation, humor, and imagination.

The Sippy Cups perform a high-energy rock show for families. They whip up imaginative original tunes and cult rock favorites into a whirlwind circus of humor and interactive audience participation. With a magic party atmosphere, The Sippy Cups' songs evoke a child-like freedom to pretend, and have the essential cool factor for discerning listeners.
