African American Chamber of Commerce Announces
Dr. Steve Perry as Keynote Speaker at Eagle Award Ceremony

Orlando, Florida (January 8, 2013) – The African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida, a premier advocate and resource committed to fostering economic success for African American businesses, announces that highly acclaimed educator, speaker, and author, Dr. Steve Perry, will be the featured presenter at its Eagle Award Ceremony on January 19, 2013, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, 4600 North World Drive, Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830. The ceremony will begin at 7:00 in the evening.

Dr. Perry, recognized by U.S. News & World Report, as principal of one of the best performing high schools in the nation, was featured on CNN’s documentary, “Black in America” and can be seen on Anderson Cooper 360 and American Morning. He will offer an empowering discussion with a rare combination of scholarly and community activism.
The 2013 Eagle Award Ceremony, the Chamber’s annual signature event, will bring together hundreds of attendees, including entrepreneurs, community business leaders, public officials, and major corporate sponsors. Themed “Soaring Higher: Getting to the Next Level,” this ceremony represents the 7th year of celebrating valuable contributions made by business professionals in Central Florida communities. The event will heighten the awareness of business excellence and economic vitality in diverse communities, while showcasing individuals with outstanding accomplishments and entrepreneurial success.

The community is invited to attend the Eagle Award Ceremony. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is the event’s title sponsor, with collaboration from the Orlando Magic serving as a Founding Trustee. This year’s gold sponsors are: Visit Orlando and Orlando/Orange County Convention Center, and Lockheed Martin. AT&T, Florida Blue, SunTrust, University of Central Florida, and Balfour Beatty Construction serve as the event’s silver sponsors. The Chamber will announce recipients for the Eagle Award, Entrepreneur of the Year, Emerging Business of the Year, and Corporate Recognition Award.
