River Thames, from Blackfriars Bridge to Tower Bridge

Drift 08 is the first art exhibition of its kind to take place not on the banks of the river Thames, but actually on the water itself. With a huge variety of unusual and nautical themed pieces of art installed up and down the river, Drift 08 is due to be one of the biggest and best free art exhibitions this year.

Drift 08
More than a dozen pieces of watery art feature in Drift 08, with contributions from many major and international artists. Unusual pieces that take advantage of their floating setting mean that you can expect to see all sorts of installations and lightworks, rather than the normal watercolours of fishing boats and seagulls associated with nautical art exhibitions.

Art between the bridges
Located between Blackfriars Bridge and Tower Bridge, the art exhibition on the Thames features all sorts of installations on the river. A capsizing yacht, mythical creatures that swim up and down the river at twilight, and a tower covered with magical red flowers that bloom, decay and fade throughout the day are just some of the amazing installations you can expect to see in Drift 08.

Ghostly illuminations
One of the highlights of the exhibition will no doubt be the recreation of the Blackfriars Railway Bridge through lasers and light installations. Located near the actual Blackfriars Bridge, passersby and visitors to the Drift 08 exhibition will be amazed to see the real bridge and the illuminated installation in close conjunction.

Set to be an annual event that brightens up the Thames every autumn, Drift 08 is the inaugural art exhibition to be held on the river itself.
