Acclaimed health and wellness guru, Dr. Andrew Weil will provide an evening of information with which you can keep your body's inherent healing system in peak working order as you encounter the challenges of day-to-day life; he also shows you how to construct a lifestyle that will protect you from premature illness and disability, and teaches practices and skills that will enable you to prepare for any eventual health crisis you may face.

Dr. Weil explores common Western beliefs and attitudes about aging and urges readers to develop healthier perspectives. He assesses the growing field of anti-aging medicine, taking the position that aging is not reversible, and offers many ways for readers to prevent conditions and illnesses that limit mortality and ensure well-being into the later years.

His latest book, “Why Our Health Matters” shows what has gone wrong with the American way of health to create the crisis in which our country is embroiled. Dr. Weil gets to the root of the problem, showing how medical schools fail to give future doctors the best education to care for patients, how insurance companies have destroyed our opportunity to get excellent care, and how pharmaceutical companies have come to rule our lives. He offers a realistic vision of how we can achieve optimum health through a heightened sense of personal responsibility and a new model of medicine.

Dr. Weil is Director of the Program in Integrative Medicine of the College of Medicine, University of Arizona. He also holds appointments as Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine and Clinical Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine. He is the author of many scientific and popular articles and of seven books: The Natural Mind; The Marriage of the Sun and Moon; From Chocolate to Morphine (with Winifred Rosen); Health and Healing; Natural Health, Natural Medicine; Spontaneous Healing; and Eight Weeks to Optimum Health.
