Downtown Live! Music, Arts & Culture join forces to enrich Escondido’s Downtown on Saturday October 10, 2009

Downtown Live! continues to delight the weekend crowds of Escondido on Saturday October 10, 2009 with free live music from 6:00 to 8:30p.m. This Saturday Ritmo Loco, a local professional band with instrumental jazz standards and a pinch of Latin flavor, performs in the street at the corner of Grand and Kalmia streets.

Also, taking place this weekend is 2nd Saturday Art Walk in Downtown Escondido.
Sponsored by the Downtown Business Association, this free arts event takes place the 2nd Saturday of every month from 6:00 to 9:00p.m. Visitors can start their art walk at any of the galleries listed at www.downtownescondido.com A wide variety of galleries and museums, featuring local original art, are all within a 10-block walking distance of one another. Featured art ranges from the work of distinguished artists known worldwide to emerging local artists. With a wide range of art, there is something for everyone to see and enjoy.

This month, for ArtWalk, Artists Gallery, located at 121 W Grand Ave will display a monthly fall exhibition showcase by local artists. Distinction, located at 317 East Grand Ave presents Striptease a 7 artist burlesque pin-up show starting at 6:00 to 11:00p.m. Live entertainment will be by “Kaleidoscope Acapella Quartette” and attendees are encouraged to come dressed up in burlesque attire. An additional 14 artist studio exhibition will be open.

Exhibitions at Escondido Arts Partnership include their new Nurture vs. Nature in the main gallery, Art of Nature in the Innerspace Gallery and Nature of Art in Expression Space II. At the Mingei International Museum, it’s Rite and Ritual: Ceremonial Art from Across Cultures, showing through the end of the year. The exhibition focuses on the beauty and meaning of objects used for familial, tribal and community events in traditional cultures.
