The Gay Community Center of Richmond is proud to announce “Don’t Hate, Celebrate” – a Fashion Show to Benefit the Gay Community Center of Richmond. Style is for everyone no matter their size, age, race, ethnicity or sexual orientation or gender identity! Join us for a stylish evening at GCCR featuring a show of fashions from Diversity Thrift modeled to reflect the latest trends. The show will feature models from the community as well as employees of Diversity Thrift walking the runway and showing you their individual styles. Men's, Women's and Children's fashions will be featured.
The show is being organized by Linsday Ess, a 2007 graduate of VCU in Fashion Merchandising who is producing her final show in Richmond before leaving to receive hand transplants. Lindsay has continued her work in fashion after a devastating illness required the amputation of her arms and legs. You can learn more about Lindsay in this article: http://www2.scnow.com/lifestyles/2008/may/27/quadruple_amputee_works_to_rediscover_herself-ar-456733/
Lindsay has worked with both professional models and staff members from Diversity Thrift to show how thrift store fashions can be recreated into new and fabulous outfits. You can watch a preview of the Fashion Show here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8ojy_BP9Hc
Tickets are $15 in advance, $5 for children 11 and under, and are available at Diversity Thrift and online at GayRichmond.com.
