‘Diva and the Italian Guy’ - A Unique Cabaret December 18, 2010

-Marcy ‘Diva’ Downey and Sebastian, ‘the Italian Guy’ present their unique cabaret show for Lemon Bay Playhouse's ‘Showcase Productions’ on Saturday, December 18 at 7:30pm and Sunday, December 19 at 2:00pm. Featuring outstanding vocal talent and laugh-out-loud comedy, it’s a highly entertaining mix of blockbuster song hits and loads of laughs. Marcy’s singing voice has received rave reviews nationwide and Sebastian’s Italian-American background is an endless source of hilarious stories and fractured versions of songs. Their theatrical backdrop, specialty lighting effects and state-of-the-art sound system create a truly unique cabaret experience.

Before moving to Florida eighteen years ago, Downey and Sebastian performed together on stages from Lake Tahoe and Los Angeles to Boston and New York, and appeared on radio, television and movies. They have performed with Rodney Dangerfield, Fabian, and Pat Cooper among others. The couple now resides in Venice, FL where they maintain a busy show schedule around the state. Twice a year they embark on out-of-state concert tours, including stints in New York, Ohio, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Virginia and North Carolina.

The pair has kept their act fresh and fun by continually adding new material, lighting effects, and special features such as “Flashback to the 70’s”, a tribute to Connie Francis, “Jokes from the E-mail”, songs of the legendary Louis Prima and many others. Signature elements such as Buddy’s Italian version of ‘YMCA’, his smokin’ version of Willie Nelson, and Marcy’s uncanny impersonation of Ernestine the telephone operator are perennial favorites, and audiences bring their friends back to see them. Their finale, “Tribute to the Armed Forces”, is always met with rousing enthusiasm and appreciation.
