Digital Showcase - Laptop Battle March 8, 2008

Live Electronic Musicians Compete for a Free Trip to Atlanta for the National Laptop Battle Championship.

This event, curated by the Austin Museum of Digital Art, features 16 laptop musicians from throughout Texas. These musicians will compete for a free trip to the National Laptop Battle Championship in Atlanta, Georgia.

Each contestant may use a laptop and one external controller to try to best one another in live digital music performance. Results are based on the decision of four judges in the areas of emotional impact, originality, stage performance, live elements, and crowd response.

The event will also feature DJ sets by New Berlin, from Los Angeles, and Richard.Gear, from Austin. In addition, seven visual artists from New York, Berlin, London and LA will light up the venue with their stunning video and interactive art.

This event will take place at Club DeVille on Saturday, March 8th at 9pm. Admission is $7 for general admittance, $4 for members.
