Digital Cities is a series of events for developers, planners and designers to gain better knowledge of the potential of new digital information systems. It brings together research, case studies and design technology for those (not necessarily IT experts) who will benefit from the opportunities and efficiencies offered by IT systems.

Readily available digital geographical data and 3D models now offer cost-effective alternatives to printed and physical information. This seminar introduces the tools and techniques that help planners and designers exploit these resources to create better urban environments more efficiently.

Confirmed speakers:

Anna Rose, Director, Space Syntax on evaluation tools for urban layout

Dr Jake Desyllas of Intelligent Space on software for modelling and presenting pedestrian flows

Christian Derix of Aedas Architects on the application of predictive and optimising software to building heights, movement and layout.

Alvise Simondetti of Arup on creating an integrated 3D model to look at the environmental impact of the urban form.

Additional speaker to be announced.
