Established in 2002 by the Design Exchange, Canada's Centre for design, digifest aims to encourage excellence in interactive digital media design and technology and supports the creators of new applications and content that will provide lasting economic, cultural and social benefits to Canadians. Each year, local and international designers and artists are invited to share the latest in cutting edge digital products and innovations. digifest 2006: mods is presented in partnership with Harbourfront Centre and the Ontario Science Centre.

As a strategy to expose various mods within the digital community and beyond, this year's digifest showcases all things through unique and personalized modifications to off-the-shelf products ranging from personal computers, video games and cell phones to clothing, cars and dwellings. Engaging speakers, panels, competitions and practical workshops are among many possible forums for dealing with the many aspects of mods, both intellectual and playful.
