Digging Deep: Underneath San Francisco Public Library November 9, 2012

The current Main Library rests on a Gold Rush-era cemetery and the ruins of the old City Hall destroyed in the 1906 earthquake and fire. The archaeological remains pulled from the site tell the story of the early development of the Civic Center area.
