The event Tuesday Evening at the Hobby Center, "Conversations with Diana Ross" ( not a music event) a thrilling evening. advertised for months for VIP pricing.....An incredible reception with not just Diana Ross the legend.. but the VIP pricing included a personal receiving line where the VIP were to be welcomed and greeted by Diana. Each VIP being photographed with Diana Ross and a personal signing of her book "Going Back." I have been in contact, thru the Diana Ross International Fan Club, with many fan's that are traveling across the United States to attend. But more than that to meet and finally thank this woman.
Many of us have made a major effort. Time from work, air travel, hotels, cars and emotional excitement... Needless to say there are several events in her honor, in name only at the Magnolia Hotel for fans to celebrate her divaness.
Well, last minute things have change. A message has gone out that all the VIPs get is an expensive seat, a regular copy of a book most of already own as fans.. but wanting to get it signed. NO PHOTO. No receiving line, no greeting...just we get to be "in her presence."..
I cannot tell how deceived we all feel. disappointed hugely and let down by a woman that claims to love her fans so much and speaks so much about giving back.
Granted meeting everyone in attendance would take a lot of time..., but the "VIPs" paid for something and it was not just good seats to listen to a one hour talk. Frankly wish to get my money back, wish I could cancel my flights etc..and not waste my time.
I have placed a message to the people in charge that we feel represented all this. We also feel this is probably an issue with Miss Ross not wanting to spend the time to do what was advertised.
Several have sent messages of disappointment and being mislead. Hopefully by Tuesday eve this will change, but it does not seem likely. Sounds like a chosen few get to receive what they paid for.
I for one am upset. It is a long journey for me and the expense to get my book (which I have owned for 4 years, or a new one from them) and not having it signed personally, and the PHOTO that was part of the evening....Let alone not having an organized reception line as told.
There are going to be some very sad and upset VIPs in Houston Tuesday.
