Toronto’s Diamond Rings is the solo project of John O’Regan, the frontman of post-punk Canadian quartet the D’Urbervilles. He began recording as Diamond Rings in 2008, and his most recent release under that name, Special Affections, will receive special attention in his December 6 Mercury Lounge set list. The influential Pitchfork Media called O’Regan’s mix of spacey slow jams, aggressive guitar rock, and shuddering club beats “completely irresistible.”
