About Byron Ferris

Lest we not forget. For nearly six decades, Byron Ferris has been the voice of design thinking and practice in this city and throughout the region. An industrial designer, graphic designer, author, arts patron, critic, historian and philosopher, Mr. Ferris has marked many of this region's most important contributions to design. His office, the influential Design Council, his organizing role in Portland's legendary Designer's Roundtable and Sitka Design Conference, and his continued contributions for Communications Arts and other major publications have set the table for what Portland has seemingly become: an overnight design sensation. If you don't know Mr. Ferris, you owe it to yourself to become acquainted.

About Designspeaks

AIGA Portland is pleased to introduce Designspeaks, a new series developed to showcase the most intriguing designers in the Pacific Northwest. Some of our guest speakers in this quarterly series will be stars and some will have managed to maintain a lower profile, but we can assure you; all will be amazing. We’re gearing this series as an intimate venue for the creative community to connect to others, to see what they are doing and how they’re doing it. There is no specific format for Designspeaks. Basically, it’s a small talks gathering intended to inform, inspire and engage. See some work. Ask questions. Laugh. Cry. Whatever. But do join us, won’t you?
