The Delray Beach International Tennis Championships (ITC) is just weeks away and the heat is already emanating with the announcement of the ITC’s 2009 VolleyGirls. The ’09 VolleyGirls 9-member entourage are the ambassadors and spokespersons of the event—the iconic figurines of the ITC both on-site, in the Delray Beach community and Palm Beach County. The ‘Girls’ colorfully diverse backgrounds appropriately adorn the International Tennis Championships, as past and current girls hail from Colombia, Brazil, Morocco, Germany, Romania, Yugoslavia, and are home to South Florida’s playgrounds in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

“When we started the VolleyGirl campaign in 2007, we thought it would be popular, but never realized the extent to which these girls became the iconic figures of the event they did,” said John Butler, Executive Director of the Delray Beach ITC. “Now they’ve received national recognition, endorsement deals with incredible fashion boutiques and make-up lines…It’s all just exploded in such a fantastic way. They’ve become an ideal representation of the event.”

The Delray Beach ITC is proud to announce the 2009 VolleyGirls:

Heather Allsup, age 22 from North Palm Beach
Marissa Beckerman, age 21 from Boca Raton
Kelly Blanco, age 23 from Colombia
Casey Davids, age 25 from Ft. Lauderdale
Paula Meyer, age 27 from Brazil
Andrea O’Campo, age 27 from Colombia
Laila Sadny, age 27 from Los Angeles, CA
Eve Stafford, age 29 from Boynton Beach, FL
Leah Zuckerman, age 28 from Ft. Lauderdale, FL

“These girls are infectiously enthusiastic, undeniably engaging, and are the vision of our “ATP Award of Excellence” winning event. Growing the image, presentation and awareness of the VolleyGirls is a priority for the ITC, as well as a wonderful opportunity for the entire tennis community to promote the excellence and elegance of the sport,” said Marlena Hall, PR & Media Manager of the Delray Beach ITC and Coordinator of the VolleyGirls.
