Todd Logan’s powerful courtroom drama challenges the audience to examine their own feelings about race, class, religion and the law as they become the jury. Set in a courtroom, “Defamation” presents two sides of a case in which an professional African American woman from the south side is on trial for stealing a family heirloom from the home of a North Shore Jewish businessman. Once the testimony is presented, the Judge calls on the audience to decide case.
“A brilliant, shifting jigsaw puzzle of a courtroom drama. DEFAMATION holds the audiences' own prejudices under a powerful lens . . . No one escapes the jury’s deliberations unchanged.” -- Rabbi Debra Kassoff
