Join local and visiting artists to the Decibel International Festival of Electronic Music Performance, Arts and New Media for an opening reception and conversation discussing intersections between contemporary art and sound, as well as innovative models for distribution and exhibition. Fionn Meade moderates a conversation with Octavio Castellanos and Pepe Mogt of the Tijuana-based Nortec Collective along with Seattle-based artists and organizers Randy Jones (Cycling 74), Yann Novak (Dragon’s Eye Recordings), Jerry Abstract (Decibel Festival Creative Director) and Victoria based sound/audio artist Jamie Drouin (Microforming II).

Please come at 5 PM for a brief discussion and listening to day ring, night ring, a 5.1 sound composition from Los Angeles artist Steve Roden created for the James Turrell Skyspace at the Henry, on exhibit until October 15.

The Decibel Festival opens Thursday, September 14 at Neumo’s on Capitol Hill with Nortec Collective’s ‘Static Discos’, 9 PM, and runs through Sunday, September 17 at various venues in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. Visit www.dbfestival.com for more information.
