Look out butt-rockers: the indie-poppers are forming an alliance. Jesse Kates of the Sexy Accident is kicking off something called the Indie Pop Alliance this week, which he says will act as a quarterly showcase for local pop acts. “It seemed to me that we were having a renaissance of sorts of really great pop bands in KC, and it seemed like a cool thing to draw attention to and celebrate,” Kates says. The inaugural IPA show shouldn't disappoint, with a stacked bill featuring the power-hungriest of all local pop bands (the Dead Girls), the power-puff girls of Softee, Kates’ Sexy Accident, and newcomers Audiovox and the Tambourine Club.
