Inspired by a true story, this drama is set in 1965, shortly after the passage of the Civil Rights Act. When one black man finds himself assaulted by the police after daring to protect his own daughter, he's inspired to form an all-black defense group to patrol his portion of town, keeping the residents safe from hate crimes.
