David Grisman Bluegrass Experience July 16, 2011

The undisputed master of the mandolin returns to his roots as he unveils his latest project, the Bluegrass Experience. Featuring a new, stellar group of musicians including Keith Little (Ricky Skaggs, Dolly Parton, the Country Gentlemen) on 5-string banjo, guitar and vocals, Jim Nunally (John Reischman & the Jaybirds) on guitar and vocals, Chad Manning on fiddle, David’s son Samson on bass and, of course, “Dawg,” on mandolin and vocals, the band puts their inimitable spin on classic, traditional bluegrass tunes by masters such as the Stanley Brothers and the Carter Family that would make Bill Monroe proud. Rounding out the program are Grisman favorites, such as "Dawggy Mountain Breakdown" (the theme from NPR's Car Talk show) and the ever popular "Old and in the Way."
