Dancing at Dusk: Opa! The Music and Dance of Greece July 13, 2011

Come to Caramoor for an evening of fun with the kids! Bring a picnic, spread out a blanket, and enjoy great music together. Children of all ages will have the opportunity to dance to live music, interact with the musicians, get to know their instruments, and ask questions. This is a wonderful way to have your child introduced, up close, to music in a relaxed and joyful way. Activities will be designed for toddlers as well as pre-teens.

Led by renowned Bouzouki player Kostas Psarros, the band Ethos will present Rebetika (often known as The Greek Blues), music from the 60's and 70's and also traditional folk music from different areas of Greece. Featuring extraordinary rhythms, a line-up of fascinating instruments and complete with vocalists and dance instructor, Areti Tsiola, this promises to be an exuberant night that will have everyone on their feet and rejoicing… (and learning a lot about the rich heritage of this remarkable country!)
