Dan Zemelman began as a classically trained pianist, who later developed a passion for Jazz and as part of the Kennedy Center’s Jazz Ambassadors project, toured India and Sri Lanka representing America’s jazz tradition through teaching and performances. After moving from Wisconsin to the Bay Area, Zemelman was able to contribute to John Lee Hooker’s last studio album. Formally of the band Plum Crazy, Zemelman currently plays regularly with Marcus Shelby and his own quartet featuring Fred Randolph, Erik Jekabson and Alan Hall, who will accompany him on the Yoshi’s stage.
