DALLAS MAVS PLAYERS TO COACH NBA ENTERTAINMENT LEAGUE PLAYERS AT FIRST-EVER DALLAS ALL-STAR CELEBRITY SLAM JAM SATURDAY, APRIL 14 AT SMU’S MOODY COLISEUM

Mavs’ Dirk, Jet and J-Ho to coach Mark Cuban and celebrities such as Chris Brown, Bill Bellamy, Donald Faison; adidas and Academy Sports & Outdoors will host a Mavs playoff pep rally during half-time

DALLAS – Take the family out for a high-energy “celebrity-spotting” Saturday when the Heroes Basketball Foundation, NBA Entertainment League, Dallas Mavericks, and the Dallas Mavs Foundation present the first annual Dallas All-Star Celebrity SLAM JAM on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 2 p.m. at SMU’s Moody Coliseum (6024 Airline Rd. in Dallas). SLAM JAM will test the skills of Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and celebrities from the NBA Entertainment League (see below) as they are matched up and coached by none other than Dallas Mavericks players Jason Terry, Dirk Nowitzki, Josh Howard, Jerry Stackhouse, Devin Harris and other current Mavs! Note: because of construction around SMU, fans are encouraged to arrive at least one hour early to park.

“Here’s a great chance for fans to cheer on the Mavs before they play their last game and head to the playoffs,” said Dallas Mavs owner Mark Cuban. “And it’s really going to be fun to see guys like Dirk, Jet and Stackhouse coaching me and the celebrity wannabees! And I promise, the game will have all the bells and whistles of a regular Mavs game.”

The afternoon kicks off at noon with K104, Radio Disney and ABC Radio hosting a family funfest outside Moody Coliseum with games, prizes and Mavericks Dancers meet-and-greets. Doors to the auditorium open at 1 p.m., and Cuban and a slew of celebrity players take center court for warm-ups at 1:30 p.m. with tip-off at 2 p.m.

The family-fun game will feature the Dallas Mavericks Dancers, Mavs Man, the Mavs Maniacs and all the spectacular festivities seen at the Mavs home games. The Step Team from the Beta Nu chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi will also perform a crowd-pumping routine, and five-year old Bentley Green will rap his infamous Mavericks song! The fast-and-furious game will be a fun change for the best-winning team in the NBA as the Mavs players switch roles with Mark Cuban to see if he can sink a few hoops! At halftime, adidas and Academy are proud to sponsor a Mavs playoff pep rally. The SMU cheerleaders and SMU band will be on hand that day as well.

Expected to play that day are (artists subject to change):
• R&B singer Chris Brown (hit single Run It, Gimme That, and Yo -- Excuse Me Miss)
• Donald Faison (Scrubs and Clueless)
• Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris and Norbit)
• Flex Alexander (Snakes on a Plane)
