Featuring the World Premiere of Philippe Hersant's String Quartet No. 3

The Cypress String Quartet (Cecily Ward, violin; Tom Stone, violin; Ethan Filner, viola; and Jennifer Kloetzel, cello) celebrates 15 years together during their 2011-2012 season. This year's commissionee for "Call & Response 2012" is French composer Philippe Hersant, who has written his String Quartet No. 3 in response to Haydn’s beloved String Quartet in C Major, Op. 20, No. 1 and Beethoven’s monumental String Quartet No. 12 in E-flat Major, Op. 127 (a recording of which the Cypress will release as part of their 3-CD Beethoven Box Set on March 6).
