One of Shakespeare’s most complex and interesting works is coming to a UC Irvine stage for the first time! We follow a group of parents, lovers and lost siblings that are, like us, hopeful, ambitious and majorly flawed. Through their faults, we connect to their innocence and jealousy, finding fellow human beings who make mistakes and struggle for redemption. Most importantly, Cymbeline tells us the story of enduring love: passionate, soul-shattering, tear-your-hair-out love, bursting out of a storybook and into the reality of our world with all its stumbles and complications. Our heroes and heroines aren’t handed love, they have to fight for it. And the effort only makes our “happily ever after” all the sweeter.
