Cybersonica Social creates a slice of Cybersonica for a few brief but enjoyable hours once a month in the friendly, vibey surroundings of the The Flea-Pit - and takes a new approach - themes. Each month investigates a different strand of work associated with Cybersonica with line-ups to suit.

Our second Social of the season includes grassroots musicians and music makers “who are dedicated to the appreciation and reinterpretation of video game music“; 8-bit music makers or ‘chip tuners’ who use the same sound chips as the original games consoles; various digital artists whose work explores alternative gaming experiences and the boundaries between gaming and art; and short film-makers and animators from around the world that draw from and are inspired by video game culture.

'The Sound Of Games' features: live performances and DJ sets from 8-bit music makers gwEm vs Counter Reset & Random and Game Boy DJ Jellica of the Kittenrock label (streamed live from his studio in Cambridge); a live 'remote' performance of Arcangel Contantini's interactive online animation project bakteria.org (controlled by Arcangel from Mexico City); an exhibition of Stanza's soundtoys.net project - a repository of exciting new works by a growing community of audio visual artists; interactive playful works from digital artists Nipplecat and Julian Baker with Adam Hoyle; as well as screenings of innovative short films and animations. More details on the 12th November line-up and a selection of live mixes from past events can be found at the Cybersonica Social website http://social.cybersonica.org

With live music and audiovisual performances, screenings of short music films and promos, DJ and VJ sets, playful interactive audiovisual artworks and demonstrations of creative work and techniques from established names and emerging talent Cybersonica Social is our ‘hang-out’ for progressive electronic music makers, audiovisualisers, digital artists and fans looking for somewhere to meet like-minded people, share ideas and enjoy fresh, vibrant music and performance.
