CREEM:
America’s Only Rock ’n’ Roll Magazine
Book release and signing party

Join Editor ROBERT MATHEU and a slew of guests for this incredible event! Both the CREEM book release and PUNK 365 book release and photo exhibit run at the same time...A DOUBLE DOSE OF ROCK 'N' ROLL HISTORY.

“CREEM rocked as much as the bands. It was the same attitude. The staff of CREEM didn’t just come to the shows to write about them, they came to rock.”
-- Alice Cooper

“When we found out we were going to be in CREEM, we knew we had arrived.”
--Tommy Ramone

Hailing from Detroit Rock City, CREEM magazine stood at the forefront of youth counterculture from 1969-1988 as “America’s Only Rock ’n’ Roll Magazine.” Now the Mouth of Motor City presents a retrospective of the beautiful haze that was rock’s golden age, from the beginning of glam rock, through punk and into 80’s metal. Compiled for fanatics by fanatics, CREEM (Collins, 0061374563, on sale 10/23/07, $29.95) celebrates the irreverent attitude that made the magazine what it was - the first music publication that made its name through respect for its readers rather than condescension, and broke the constraints of conventional music journalism while doing so.
CREEM – America’s Only Rock ’n’ Roll Magazine showcases the groundbreaking articles and photographs that appeared in the magazine throughout its twenty-year run, from profiles on KISS, The Ramones, and Rod Stewart, to album reviews like Lester Bangs’ passionate, schizophrenic take on The Rolling Stones’ “Exile on Main Street” and unique features like “Alice Cooper’s Alcohol Cookbook.”

CREEM was armed with an incredibly gifted staff of scribes, editors, photographers, and graphic artists whose work continues to resonate today. Legendary writers Lester Bangs, Dave Marsh, Ben Edmonds, Cameron Crowe, and Dave DiMartino along with renown photographers Charlie Auringer, Bob Gruen, Richard Creamer, Neil Zlozower, and Robert Matheu, laid waste to the stifling conventions of rock journalism with rapid, raucous reporting and riveting, revealing photos on everyone from the MC5 and The Clash to Blondie and Led Zeppelin. CREEM is an unabashed celebration of several musical eras and the people who were fortunate enough to document them from the front lines.
