Nobody wants to get sued, but most of us think "It won't happen to me." The fact is, however, that consultants are surrounded by liability and financial risk on every side. What happens if a client loses money by following your advice-or breaks an ankle on the way out of your office? What if your new logo or website design turns out to infringe on someone else's copyright, and you didn't get the designer to indemnify you? Will your homeowner's policy pay to replace the $20,000 of business equipment in your home office after a fire?

Attorney Sandy Shepard and insurance broker Adam Wolfson join the Bay Area Consultants Network on November 18th to answer these and other questions about how independent consultants can protect their assets and stay out of legal and financial trouble. We'll have an extensive Q & A session, so bring your burning questions about contracts, business entities, intellectual property, and insurance.

Topics our presenters will cover include:

* Why being incorporated isn't your best protection
* The difference between personal and professional liability coverage
* The clauses you need in all your contracts-and the ones to avoid
* How to evaluate your own risk and decide what coverage you need
* How to reduce your chances of getting a Cease and Desist letter
