Barefoot Chamber Concerts ("an enterprise noted for both its quality and informality" - San Francisco Classical Voice) presents really good music in the right acoustic and without the formality of most classical music events.

Faire Violls (Marie Dalby Szuts, Julie Jeffrey, Colin Shipman and Tobi Szuts, viols) and Corey Carleton, voice, will perform "ByrdSong", a program of music for a consort of viols and a voice by William Byrd, "The Father of English Music."
Byrd not only composed some of the greatest Renaissance sacred choral music, but also created a body of innovative and gorgeous chamber music for viols, including many consort songs. Faire Violls' program features gems from these instrumental works, among the first pieces to be written idiomatically for viols, and consort songs that have become justly famous as cornerstones of the repertoire.

This music was written for spacious wooden rooms: the lovely acoustic of St. Mark's Parish Hall will provide the perfect setting for the richness and resonance of Byrd's settings.

The program, which starts at 6, will be a little over an hour long with no intermission. There will be refreshments available before, during, and after the concert.
