May 6 - Introduction and new HR topics in California
A general discussion of what are HR's biggest problems. Also will review new California employment laws and identify a multitude of laws relating to retaliation protection

May 8 - Vacations, paid time off, leaves of absence
Discuss employer legal requirements relative to vacations, sick leave, holidays, and paid time off; also Kin Care; Review the application and integration of FMLA, CFRA, and PDL leaves; discuss SDI and Paid Family Leave.

May 13 - Employment discrimination, training
Discuss California's FEHA; define discrimination, retaliation, protected classes, types of discrimination, other laws prohibiting discrimination, other workplace issue, claims and lawsuits, investigations, penalties and a defense against discrimination; and, all aspects of sexual harassment prevention training.

May 15 - Workplace safety, workers compensation
Discuss the IIPP, heat illness protections, and other laws addressing workplace safety; for workers' compensation, discuss who is covered, who is not; what's covered, types of injuries, the Log 300, 300A, and 301 forms.

May 20 - More need-to-know HR information in California
Identify postings and notices requirements; what HR needs to know about records management; learn why an effective HRIS is critically important for survival.
