CopyNight is a monthly social meet-up to discuss copyright law and related topics. The goal is to build ties among the various stakeholders in the copyright system – artists, academics, lawyers, students, businesspeople, etc. – while building social capital in the local community.

The Orlando group will have its first meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008. We meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7 pm at Stardust Video & Coffee (1842 E. Winter Park Rd., Orlando).

Subscribe to the CopyNight Orlando mailing list at www.copynight.org for meeting announcements. (No spam, I promise.)

There is no cost to attend CopyNight meetings. Everyone is welcome to attend. Meetings are open discussions; everyone is invited to ask questions or contribute what they know. We'll discuss whatever topics catch our fancy each month, such as recent news stories.

There's plenty to talk about this month, from AT&T's scheme to filter the 'Net for copyright infringement, to a bill in Congress tying education funding to "anti-piracy" requirements for colleges, plus the presidential elections.

So you can find us, I'll have a sign that says "CopyNight". I'll also tell the cashiers, so they should be able to point you to me.

About Stardust: They have beer, wine, coffee, tea, sandwiches, salads, and other food. Cash or credit. Free wifi. Park in the lot or across the street, or take the Lynx #13 (stops around the corner on Corrine Dr.). All ages welcome. Vegetarian and vegan options available. Phone: (407) 623-3393.
